Country tariff detail

Mexico Tariff Rates 2026

These are annual country-level averages. Product-specific import duties still require HS/HTS lookup, origin review, Chapter 99, AD/CVD, quota, and broker confirmation.

US import tariffs - current status

Current policy status: Mexico

Mexico-origin imports split first on USMCA qualification, then on product-specific Section 232 coverage.

Last verified2026-05-07

Goods entered free of duty under USMCA are excluded from the Mexico border-duty layer and the Section 122 surcharge. Non-USMCA goods need a separate check for the Mexico border-duty order, Section 122, and product-specific Section 232 coverage.

Do not treat Mexico as a single flat-rate origin. Verify USMCA eligibility, potash treatment, Section 232 steel/aluminum or auto scope, Chapter 99 headings, valuation, AD/CVD, quota, and broker review.

Layer breakdown

Mexico border-duty order / USMCA split

product specific

0% if USMCA; 25% non-USMCA; 10% potash

USMCA-qualifying goods entered free of duty are excluded from the additional Mexico border duty. Non-USMCA goods remain subject to the amended Mexico order, with lower treatment for potash.

2025-03-07 - TBD

Classify and document USMCA eligibility before modeling this layer. Non-USMCA goods may also need a Section 122 check unless a product exception or Section 232 coverage applies.

Section 122 temporary surcharge

product specific

0% if USMCA; 10% otherwise

The Section 122 surcharge excludes Mexico goods entered free of duty under USMCA and excludes goods already subject to Section 232 tariffs.

2026-02-24 - 2026-07-24

For non-USMCA goods, model Section 122 only after checking product exceptions and Section 232 scope.

Data scope note

Latest available annual indicator: 2022

These country-level rates come from annual macro indicators. They answer searches such as “tariff rates by country” and “historical tariff rates,” but they usually lag 2025/2026 policy notices and do not replace product-specific HS/HTS duty review.

For a shipment decision, start with HS/HTS lookup, then review Chapter 99, Section 301, Section 232, AD/CVD, quotas, and broker guidance.
